“Laughter is the best medicine.” There is truly scientific evidence that laughter can melt away stress. This program will examine the importance of humor as a tool for coping with the stressors of leadership by teaching managers how to use humor to handle hardships. Health Care Administrators will walk away with a greater level of skill to tackle any day, no matter what it may bring.

Objectives:

  • Identify specific mechanisms through which humor contributes to physical health & wellness.
  • Discuss issues related to the use of humor with clients in LTC setting.
  • Explain how humor & laughter, on the job, improves care quality.
  • Discuss cautions & concerns about the use of humor in healthcare settings.
  • Identify the current science on the effects of humor & laughter on physiology & pain.
  • Discuss ways to improve humor skills to cope with job stress & improve care quality.
  • Describe how laughter yoga could be utilized to aid in stress relief.

Presenter:  Temika N. Younger, RN MSN-Ed

Temika N. Younger, a Registered Nurse with a master’s degree in nursing education, is also a Maxwell Certified Leadership Trainer, Speaker, Coach, and author. She owns Virginia Adult Care Education. Her experience spans various long-term care areas, but her role as a Nurse Educator revealed her passion and aptitude for teaching caregivers to provide superior care. Temika has instructed in diverse environments, including colleges, high schools, and community venues. Over the years, she has established and overseen numerous entry-level healthcare training programs. For the past 12 years, she has been educating nurses on how to conduct entry-level healthcare training classes through her extensive Train the Trainer courses, aiming to inspire and empower nurses to reach their full potential. In addition, she acts as a business coach for both aspiring and experienced nurse entrepreneurs.

Temika’s passion for teaching shines through in every class she conducts. Former trainees praise her ability to animate a class and engage students. Her innovative teaching methods foster a sense of connection among her students, even in virtual settings like Zoom. She is particularly dedicated to nurturing leaders in healthcare, reflecting her deep commitment to the field. Temika is humbled in knowing that her teaching is a divine calling.
