Medication administration in LTC facilities has been historically concerned about psychoactive drug use and administration errors. This program is particularly relative in these times of staffing challenges. In assisted living facilities the numbers of unlicensed assistive personnel who are permitted to administer medications in Virginia, unsupervised by a licensed nurse, has increased as new facilities open, and with the expansion of memory care units. Medication administration errors continue to be a problem in all long-term care facilities. This program provides evidence of, and defines the problems and presents strategies to minimize them. NCERS/NAB approved for 5.0 participant continuing education.
